RE0 started life as an N64 game, they could have absolutely tried to work the events of this game into REmake to tie the two together somehow, even if it was just in one or two pieces of throwaway dialogue. This is especially unforgivable in REmake because these games were developed around the same time as each other.

But I do have trouble buying that she wouldn't have mentioned ANYTHING that happened in this game to Chris in RE1. I have no trouble buying that she''d be panicking and scared out of her mind because she can't seem to escape the monsters. Rebecca having this zombie adventure and being scared of the monsters in RE1 can work. That said the story is dumb and not always in a fun way. The game only got frustrating for me when I got to the cable car and the fight with the tyrant, but that was because I was low on ammo, so I had to leave enemies alive in the cable car room (which made backtracking a pain in the ass) and still barely had enough to actually beat that (pretty annoying to play) boss fight. The facility and the train aren't as tightly designed as some of the other games locations but they're pretty easy to navigate when you get a feel for them. You'd be making a similar kind of trek to get to a room with an item box in one of the other games, the only difference here being that you have to go to a specific room to get it. I also found if you got in the habit of leaving items by save points (basically using them as a storage room) then going back for items wasn't a huge deal. The lack of an item box was annoying but you also have double inventory space. I got lucky with knowing the hook shot would be a problem so I usually had it on me to be safe. I thought the game itself was pretty good.
